Review: Tempted by Blood is a nicely written story and book # 3 of the Sweetblood Series by Laurie London. This is the first book I read by London and it certainly isn’t going to be the last. Tempted by blood has everything I like in a paranormal book. Arianna & Jackson are now my favorite characters in paranormal.
The complications, the twist and turns add to this story the perfect ingredients to make it one of a kind vampire story. While reading this book I couldn’t help but compare it to the plot on the movie Taken, where young girls are taken to parts of Europe for prostitution. Though this isn’t the case in Tempted by Blood the idea of human trafficking for their blood add the perfect ingredient to make this a great read. While a group of vampires fight to maintain order and stop the killing of Sweetbloods (humans with special kind of blood that it is highly preferred by vampires), another group wants to bring the chaos and return to the old ways in which vampires feed (by killing humans).
Jackson’s struggles add the uncertainty and suspense necessary to make this a fun read. Arianna’s discovery of the vampire race will change her life forever but it will always bring her the answers she needs about her mother’s disappearance. The relationship between Arianna and Jackson though it develops slowly, it is certainly sweet and wild. I enjoyed how London incorporated the “mystery” behind bonding with the true mate and the surprises this bond brings.
The story flows easily. London did a great job developing these characters; though this is the first book I read of the series it was easy for me to follow. London is able to give the reader glimpses of past conflicts and situations which help a lot if you have just started reading the series and didn’t start with book #1 like I did.
This story is hot & sexy with kick ass action. It has a great plot and great characters which in turn make for great twists and turns that add the necessary spark to make this a wild ride, leaving readers looking forward to book #4.
